Caramel Sauce:
When I think caramel sauce what comes to mind is sweet, creamy, sticky goodness. This caramel recipe has all that, but with more of a dulce de leche taste. This sauce can be used as a dessert topping, filling, or a dipping side for fruit, pretzels, chocolate and so many other yummy treats. Many make caramel from condensed milk on the stovetop, however, I was not comfortable making it that way because most recipes require the can of condensed milk be unopened and it takes about 3 hours to make. I found cooking it this way took less than half the time and was much safer. Do remember that while baking you must keep checking to make sure there is always enough water in the larger baking pan. The baking process causes the water to evaporate and lack of water will result in burning the caramel. Also, let the sauce completely cool before using it. Sometimes it forms a thin crust on the top, you can use a whisk or immersion blender for about a minute to mix it all together. This will also remove any clumps and make it creamier. Other than that, just let the process take its course and enjoy the delicious results. Now, let's bake!
